But you do not need to switch everything to Web Services all at once. Web Services can be adopted incrementally and used in conjunction with current means of connecting internal systems. In the last chapter, starting on page 43, the use of middleware as an integration technique was discussed. 8 at the end of that chapter showed how Web Services could be used in conjunction with both CORBA and DCOM. This could apply to other proprietary vendor solutions and internally developed connections as well.
